My Mother Has Dementia
My mother is 81 yrs old and I have taken her to her Dr. who's idea of a dementia test is who is the president and what is the date. Her cat scan didn't show any brown spots on it, but her personality is swinging from anger to happy. She is thinking that her family wants to "take over", when she's been the one to take her to med appt. etc. Is her just being controlling or do I need to be worried? Her has been controlling most of her life, but is becoming more so. Like telling me how to do. Thanks!

RE: My Mother Has Dementia
As people become older some of their characteristics become greatly exaggerated, and this is a psychological phenomenon, not a brain issue. Unless there are other signs of dementia, there is probably nothing but what is happening normally.
